 Woods

All of our guitars are made from all solid instrument grade wood.

Wood is chosen for stiffness and tonal qualities that will best suit the player’s style and fit the overall desired sound of the guitar.

Standard woods are included in the base price. Any specialty woods can be ordered or supplied by the customer.

Tops

Tops are all made from solid wood. Only the highest grade of quarter sawn wood is used. Top wood is chosen for stiffness and tonal qualities that will best suit the player’s style and fit the overall desired sound of the guitar.

Soundboard thickness is left slightly thicker in the center and is gradually tapered toward the edges to help open up the sound.

Tight grain Sitka spruce is used for the Martin style interlocking X bracing. After bracing, the top is “tap tuned” to unlock the greatest acoustic potential of the particular piece of wood.

Standard top woods include Sitka spruce, Englemann Spruce, and Western red cedar. Adirondack spruce, Redwood, and Mahogany tops are also available.

 Backs & Sides

The back and sides of Worland Custom Guitars can be built using a wide variety of woods available.

Backs and sides are constructed from well seasoned solid wood. Woods are chosen for their acoustic properties as well as for their aesthetic beauty.

Bodies

The bodies are carefully assembled by hand one at a time in a climate controlled room. Several basic sizes are available from a small parlor to a concert jumbo size. Mahogany linings and side bracing provide a light yet rigid body structure. Tops and backs are arched slightly to increase their strength and stability.

Necks

All necks are made from seasoned mahogany and are carved by hand so that subtle changes can be made to suit the individual player’s style. The width of the nut may be specified by the customer to duplicate the feel of your favorite neck.

The necks are reinforced with a two-way adjustable truss rod and are fairly slim and fast with quick low action. The playing surface of the finger board has a tapered radius that is greatest at the nut and flattens out towards the sound hole.

All of this adds up to stable neck which plays with minimum effort.

 Rosette

Rosette

The standard rosette is made from thin strips of wood taken from the back and binding materials in order to give a unified look to the guitar. Each rosette is made to match the guitar so using custom materials is no problem.
