In designing this harp guitar, the
customer and I worked in close collaboration going over several
possible string configurations and body shapes. He requested a
specific tuning and a lute like body shape. For more on how we

This harp guitar is influenced heavily by the John Doan harp guitar which was designed and built by Jeffery Elliot and John Sullivan.
There are a total of 25 strings, 7 sub-bass, 6 melody, 12 super trebles for a total of 5 octaves. The sub-basses are wound nylon, the melody strings are phos bronze and the super trebles are steel.
The top is Englemann spruce, back and sides are black walnut. The neck is made from mahogany with an ebony fingerboard and bridges.
This harp guitar is currently for sale by the current owner. It is used so there are some usual wear marks but it is in fine playing condition. With cases and pickup the price is about $6500 but the price may be negotiable. If you are interested I can put you in touch with the current owner to work out the details.

The
2 pegheads. Sub bass strings are wound nylon tuned low to hi C
D E F G A B . The main melody strings are phosphor bronze and
are tuned to an open tuning favored by the customer CGCGCE. Both
pegheads are veneered with rosewood.
The
sub basses are tuned with 16:1 geared viola Peghed tuners and Gotoh mini tuners are used for the main
strings.
12 steel
super trebles are anchored at the upper bout...
...and tuned with viola fine tuners.
They are tuned g a b c d e f g a b c d.
The OM
size body has been styled to resemble a lute body. The top is
made from Englemann spruce.
The
back and sides are made from black walnut. Neck is mahogany.
Inside
the body you can see the bracing and a custom made K&K pickup.
