This
OM model was designed in collaboration with the customer who wanted
a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired inlay. It has a rosewood back and
sides with a cedar top.
Some comments from the customer's web site:
"My No.1. I was given the opportunity to participate in the design of this guitar as a Christmas present from my wife. It was then made by Jim Worland, a luthier in Rockford, Illinois over the ensuing 10 months. I never dreamed that I would be able to design and own a unique guitar of my own.
"The headstock features my initials. My son's initals are also "CG". This guitar will be an heirloom passed through my family.
"The guitar plays easily with a slimmer neck than I have been accustomed to making it easier to move up and down the neck. It has excellent resonance with a lasting sustain. The tapered body fits more comfortably against your body and the fresh wood has a very rich almost chocolatey smell that adds to the experience of playing it.

choose the details I wanted. He understood that, for a once in
a lifetime guitar, it had to be just right. His website demonstrates

produce a one of a kind guitar."
Western red cedar top with
a sunburst finish.
Rosewood back and sides
with curly maple binding.
Gold tuning machines adorn
the peghead which is inlaid with curly maple and mother of pearl.
"CG" are the owner's initials.
Mother of pearl inlay in
the fingerboard with curly maple binding.
Rosewood rosette with a
small pearl inlay.
An ebony bridge was carved
in the same motif as the inlay.

The inlay design was sketched
up and sent to the customer for approval. Some inlay materials
were chosen to keep an earthy, natural look.
Here is the rim assembled
in a guitar mould.

top. The braces are sitka spruce with a cedar top.

the white" before any finish has been applied.
A sunburst finish really
changes the character of the guitar. The final finish is gloss
lacquer.
